Autumn Colours, The Tea Rooms at Valley Gardens, Harrogate

I painted this scene outside in the Valley Gardens, Harrogate just in front of the Magnesia Well Tea Room in glorious weather. I loved capturing the stunning array of Autumnal colours on the trees using layers of paint on top of paint. I firstly applied the background delicately in a myriad of colours using moss to dip into my acrylic paint. Then added the bushes after which I painted the trees using leaves and twigs to dip into the acrylic paint. Finally adding the café, this time using brushes, which is now run by Ripley’s. I have always wanted to paint this scene and am so glad with the way it evolved. Spot the rabbit and Blackbird!.
