For over 6 years now, Anita Bowerman has been the Artist in Residence at Hazlewood Castle and has spent many happy hours sketching and painting there.
Hazlewood Castle continues to evolve and is now launching a major new venue in their extensive woodland. The beautiful Woodland Venue includes the Tree Bar, giant fire pits, a pagoda over a trickling waterfall and much more besides. The Woodland Venue will be available for parties, corporate events and used to host Woodland Weddings. Civil Ceremonies and Blessings can even be held in the Woodland Pagoda.
In the summer of 2017, Anita was commissioned by Hazlewood to create two Woodland Wedding concept paintings. These were painted using gouache on watercolour paper and are now hanging in Hazlewood Castle.

My background to painting outside stems from early childhood. No matter what the weather - I'll always try and paint outside of my studio to capture the subject matter be it animals, landscapes or as is often the case - a combination!

Beautiful autumn colouring this year inspired me to capture the cherry trees on the stray in Harrogate - slightly windy conditions made the outdoors challenging but well worth the effort - !

Had a fabulous time at the gardens of Monet in the tranquil village of Giverny. Made all the more exciting when a massive storm hit the village the evening we arrived - ended up eating my Sea Bass in a plate full of rainwater..... as the restaurant got deluged!
