I’ve always been drawn to the idea of painting a Laburnum arch, and I finally found
the perfect inspiration at Newby Hall in Yorkshire. The vibrant yellow blossoms were
stunning, forming a golden tunnel alive with birds and bees fluttering through the
warm air. I wanted to capture not just the colour but the feeling of standing there –
surrounded by nature’s brilliance. I love working with detail and spent hours carefully
applying tiny dots of yellow paint, using the end of a twig to build up texture and bring
the scene to life. Imitating the French Impressionists and yellow equals happiness.
This painting can be hung straight on the wall. It would become a stunning
statement piece to any home or office.
