Painted outside sitting in front of the sweeping pathway which leads to the magnificent Castle Howard stately home near York. I created the trees and shrubs in this picture using moss, leaves and twigs to dip into acrylic paint and apply to the watercolour paper. I captured the contrasting colours of the changing leaves in September. The tower of the dome is guilded in 24 carat real gold leaf which shimmers when the light captures it.
