Staithes, A View from the Harbour (Original Painting, Framed)

ABA70144

Staithes, is a small picturesque village on the East Coast of Yorkshire which was once one of the largest fishing ports in the North East of England. It is famous for its quirky, 18th cottages, beloved as a subject to paint by many famous artists who set up the Staithes Group of Artists. Anita rented a cottage here with the purpose of painting views of Staithes and other seaside destinations near here.  She sat on the harbour wall and painted this view. The tide almost came in and cut Anita off, had she not been rescued by a fellow artist Tilly Shaw. It took a long time to paint as Anita tried to include every single house and cottage in the picture.
